About the Author
Roderick Clarke was born in
His inspiration for writing started with his family’s embrace of life and happiness, which was etched into the author’s heart by an early acceptance of the Bible, with a deep love affair with the books of Psalms, Proverbs and the Songs of Solomon. This created an ideal breeding ground for Clarke’s works of poetry.
A great admiration and respect also grew in his heart for such national heroes as Nanny of the Maroons, Sam Shape, and Marcus Garvey. They all fought for the freedom and rights of Jamaicans the world over. Upon immigrating to the United States, the author then learned about Martin Luther King, Jr., Fredrick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, Sigourney Truth, Rosa Parks, and many others who have paved the road for, not just Black America, but all races.
The author’s book is entitled Black Reign, filled with a variety of poetry, which embraces Blackness, Spirituality and Love.
