ELLISON KUDZAYI MADENYIKA was born in Morgenster Mission Hospital, Masvingo, Zimbabwe on the 9^th May 1945. He attended Chitsere Primary School in Harare, and completed high school at A.P. Knottenbelt High School, Gweru in 1963. He joined the Ministry of Local Government as a clerk in 1964, before moving to the Department of Social Welfare in 197 as a qualified social work with a B.A. degree in Social Science. He trained with University of South Africa from 1974 – 1976. From

1969 – 1989 Mr. Madenyika was active in the social and political transformation of Zimbabwe.

In 1990 he became the regional Coordinator of the Zimbabwe/EU Micro project (Partnership) Program (rural development) in Masvingo province, a post he held until 2002. He left Zimbabwe in August 2002 and is now living in the U.K. Mr. Madenyika is married to Beltinah, and they have five children, who are living abroad.
