About the Author

Sensei Sheldon Billips: A retired martial artist of close to 40 years' experience is also a writer, producer and adventurer, was born in Brownsville, Pennsylvania. He began writing notable poetry at the age of nine (9). He began his martial arts training in June 1968 while serving as a United States Marine in the Republic of Vietnam where he also studied the Korean fighting art of Taekwondo under The Korean Taekwondo Federation in Vietnam. He achieved black belt level after one year of brutal and intensive training. He continued his martial arts training upon his return to the USA; while at the same time pursuing his studies of  radio producing, screenplay, video production, and journalism, while attending the following institutions: Prince Georges Community College, The Frederick Douglas School of the Arts, and The City University of New York.

In 1981 he entered upon the Sport Karate & Kickboxing circuits where he enjoyed a ten year tournament career as a rated top ten fighter with the Professional Karate League(PKL). He was also a runner up to the national light middleweight champion in the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO).

He became committed to martial arts instruction in 1993 when he moved to The Kingdom of Swaziland in southern Africa and established Swaziland’s Finest Martial Arts Academy where he specialized in teaching his own freestyle martial art, ‘SHANGTE-DO’, to children. While residing in Swaziland, he has written and produced two television series: VIDEO DOJO, and DRAGONTIME. Both of these shows centered around the martial arts. He has also produced the websites MANHATTAN MYSTIC and HAUNTING HORIZONS OF ART which can be found on the INTERNET. In addition to this, he has served as chief to WAKO Swaziland and coach to the national karate team. It was in Swaziland where he began organizing his Ladies Self-Defense(LSD) workshops. They proved to be so successful that he decided that he wanted to reach out to more women throughout the world on this matter of self-defense and the only way to do this at the time was to write a book about it and thus was born LA FEMME FATALE: A Guide To Ladies Self-Defense.
