The brewery business was good to Jim, like his father before him. His father, Joe, was the 10th of 16 children of a poor dirt farmer, Josh, who raised pigs and sold them as beef. Somehow, Josh convinced local slaughterhouses that the pigs were actually Japanese mini-cows. The slaughterhouse people bought into the story and Josh got top dollar for exotic meat.
Jim’s father, Joe on the other hand had a knack for chemistry and at the age of 16, he built his own still out of reinforced metal bathtubs that were welded together to create the pressure tank. Many a night Joe and his friends sat in the hills perfecting the brew. Then World War II came and took Joe’s friends. Joe stayed behind, a victim of his flat feet. He continued to develop better and better brews. Then one day, while setting up a new red ale something happened. No one knew what or how but Joe became rich, rich beyond belief. Joe used the money to open the brewery, which under the guidance of Joe and friend Brewmaster Bill became a world leader in the fine art of beers and ales.
Jim was Joe’s only child and took charge of the brewery at the age of 15 after his father developed dementia and began talking to anything that would listen. Joe was committed shortly there after and has had a full life talking to his favorite chair. Joe has the best care that money can buy and at 74 years old, it seemed that he could live forever.
Jim relied heavily on Brewmaster Bill to run the brewery in the early years. Jim went to school with Brewmaster Bill’s son, Bob, who was hired right after high school. With only three years guidance from his father, Bob was made the new brewmaster. Jim gave Bill a retirement package of unprecedented size and Bill retired to his own island near the

The Federation, a warrior race, had been upset with humans since its battlecruiser Potemkin had its front hull plate dented by the Voyager probe. Using our map aboard the Voyager, their technology, and twenty years, plus or minus two, they had found us.
Not sure, of our technological ability they sat monitoring our television signals and pondered our fate. Scenes from “Alien” and “Terminator” played on their screens.
“They must be highly advanced, yet they do not detect us,” said one alien viewing the screens.

Behind them sat a large alien with graying hair. “It’s not ours to understand, tomorrow at 43:34-2 Zulu time we will make our presence known. They will know no greater evil than the Yearous Federation.”

About the Book
In 1984 while bored at work, I coined the name ‘Management by Confusion’. Lack of the ability of management to see or figure out problems became apparent. A friend ‘Pete’ Peterson and I spent about three month putting together a board game that chronicled the adventure of a person through the company ladder to the top. No game company wanted it, so the idea was scrapped, my kids and I still play it.
After years of thinking about it, I decided to begin writing down the new story of Management by Confusion. Around 1995, I was scribbling notes and situations I thought were funny. In 1999, I finally purchased a decent computer, or should I say I actually tried to learn how to use it.
My years in school didn’t pay off in English, so when I figured out that Microsoft word could find most of my errors I was ecstatic.
By 2002, book one or part one was finished and turned down for being to short. Therefore, this time I wasn’t going to give up, and began hammering out book two or part two. It was finished in late 2004, and I began an insane task of editing it, having eight people read it and find errors. I figured it was done then I let the wife read it and she found 100 more, ARGH!! Would it never end? I decided that in February 2006 it was time so here it is.
Management by Confusion is a fast paced romp about six months in the life of a brewery owner and his best friend the chief financial officer.
The owner, Jim loves making money and sharing it with all the employees, and the CFO, Frank can’t find enough places to hide the extra money from the IRS. The crazy adventures occur around them as they purchase a research and develop company that is losing money, as a write off. To Frank’s amazement the company turns around in just one month.
Management by Confusion is a Comedy/ Sci-fi/ Fantasy/ Adventure story that bridges weird to insane. It is written so anyone could read it only because I don’t have a ten million word vocabulary like some writers. So sit down, relax, and read a story that will make you laugh and wonder, where did he come up with that. I swear it’s the plastic fumes, because I have never done drugs, well beer, why do you think I used a brewery in the story. LOL.
