The summer of their life began in June of 1929 when Rose and Harry decided to get married. We celebrated their anniversary for many years in September until one day my mother told me she really wanted to celebrate their anniversary in June.
I questioned her, "In June?"
She said, "Yes!"
I said, "Ma, your anniversary is in September."
She said, "I wanted to win a bedroom set, so we were married by a Justice of the Peace in June in order to enter the contest. The furniture store was advertising a free bedroom set to a newlywed couple." She continued, "We got married; however, I never consummated my marriage until my wedding in September 1929, when the Rabbi married us."
I asked, "Did you win the bedroom set?"
She said, "Yes."

About the Book
The difficulties for caring for aging parents are not an easy task. At best, it is very frustrating, discouraging and requires a great deal of support from other family members. This is a story of the many obstacles confronted on a daily basis. It is a story about two people who lived through the depression and many hard times. They never had the time nor the money to really enjoy the spring and summer of their lives.
