ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Patricia Desmond Vargo self-published a memoir about her mother Rita Desmond through Authorhouse in 2003 called "Teach Me Your Attitude".

In 2004 she and her husband Robert had a koi pond built from which the idea for this series was born.  Their two sons James and Todd had tropical fish as pets for many years. It was not unusual to be at the kitchen window and see a hose drop down outside if they were filling or draining a tank from their upstairs bedroom.

Their daughter Danielle Vargo Tauthong is the author of Tad the Frog, Pond Series 4, to be released later this year. Danielle and her husband Lek recently welcomed to life their first born--Anna Yadira.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATIOR

Marianne Pittelli is a decorative artist who transforms the simple child's room into a fantasyland. She sees art as a way of changing a child's view of the world. Marianne illustrated for the Pond series because she believes that a special goodness exists in a sometimes not so nice world.  Children love stories and colorful pictures that turn words into imaginary places for a child to learn and be happy. She believes it's a lot like dreaming.

As an artist, published author, poet, former facilitator for a children's support group and teacher, she has seen the result of what a beautiful picture does to a child's face.  It brings a smile and fills their heart with joy.  Marianne states, "The focus of my art is to bring a little love and joy into a world that needs to smile more often. That is my dream. That is the legacy I want to leave the world."
