The next evening we were landing in
We pulled up outside and I stared up at the house with its white icicle twinkle lights, plastic Santa and reindeer on the lawn and enormous wreath on the door. I made it up the walk juggling my bag and a few presents when I was greeted on the steps by Connie.
“You must be Sam. It is so nice to meet you. Please come in, everyone has been dieing to meet you.” She said hugging me so tight I thought she was going to cut off circulation and I would drop the presents. I glanced at Kevin, pulling the bags out of the car and he was laughing hysterically.
“It’s nice to meet you too. I’ll be along in a minute; I just want to wait for Kevin.” I said as she let me go and the feeling came back in my arms.
I stood on the porch and waited for Kevin to join me.
“Come on you two slow pokes. You can get the bags later.” Connie yelled and then went in the house.
Kevin came up and put his arm around me. “Are you alright?” He asked me.
“Are they all like her?”
“Pretty much, they have a lot of love and they’re very loud. You’re gonna love them.”
“I hope so.” I said taking a deep breath.
“Are you ready to go in?” He asked, kissing my forehead.
“As ready as I’ll ever be.”
We stepped inside and I was bombarded with twelve hugs and kisses from what looked like the entire family. I guess Kevin has talked about me a little. The thing is they were all just the way I had pictured them to be. His other sister Diana pulled herself away from
“I’ve heard so much about you.” I said, admiring her long, straight, almost black hair and how much she resembled Kevin.
“I’ve heard a lot about you too. So you’re the woman that stole my brother’s heart. I can definitely see why he noticed you.”
“How was
“Very hot and a lot of bugs, but other than that it was great. I visited a few of the tribes and they taught me their way of life and I taught them how to purify their drinking water and how to keep themselves healthy.”
“You know, we have something in common, we both help people. I help them by soothing their aches and pains and relieving their stress and you help them by curing their diseases and teaching them to live.”
“That’s true but we have two things in common.” She said, smiling.
“What’s that?”
“We both love my brother.”

Samantha Shaw has everything going for her. She has many friends who are loyal and supportive, she has her childhood dream job and has all the money she could ever need in a lifetime. About the Author
Melissa L. Smith, author of Between Two Loves, grew up in Deale, MD since the age of six. She is the mother of three children and never had much time to herself. This twenty nine year old has had many jobs in her life, including one at the local grocery store, Food Rite, in her home town. Finally, after a long search, she found a nice man who let her stay at home, raise her kids and gave her the choice to become whatever she wanted. She had never thought of being a writer because she always wanted to be a graphics artist. Writing was always just a time passer or something she did late at night when she couldn’t sleep. She only wrote a few poems here or there until one day she decided to write a paragraph that led to the production of this book. The heartaches that she went through over the years were inspiration for the plot. She continues to use her experiences today and hopefully will have more books as an outcome.
