Through my close up observation of you
I have experienced the following
But before I leave
I have compiled the data for all to see
My mouth touches yours
To receive the taste
Of a peach rotten to the core
Beautiful and nice on the outside
With disgusting inners where death is stored
My eyes look into yours
To glaze into a void and dark corridor
A tunnel with no light
A place where I refuse to fight
My flesh to yours
No heartbeat
Just a cold stone
An empty house
There is no soul home
From your nostrils
I breathe the pungent smell of death
It chokes me and wrenches my chest
What does the data show?
That you and me are through
That love has died within you

Poetry-The Spoken Word-Prayer
The book is a compilation of personal prayers and poems regarding the lives of the author's family, friends, and herself. The prayers give apologies, thanks, and praise for a life that is being well lived and still has dreams, needs, and wants to be fulfilled by the Father "God".
Poems like "The Spirit of Teaching" gives tribute to all instructors/teachers no matter whom their students may be. "Fried Chicken Blues" speaks of being tired and fed-up with someone who does not appreciate what is being done for them, whether it is cooking them a meal or cleaning their clothes.

About the Author
Teri Ghaffaar, an African-American female and native of Philadelphia, now residing in the Washington D.C. area, started writing poetry and stories for a hobby. Over the years the writings have grown into what she calls the "Ebonytulip Collection". The collection consists of several books, the first book being "Sensational Spirit...".
