About the Book

The mother of four adult children, Pat watches the generation before her start to decline. The deaths begin with that of her father, succumbing to a new disease called AIDS that strikes him after he undergoes a blood transfusion during heart bypass surgery. Yet her family continues to expand with the births of her grandchildren, each one claiming an uncharted place in her heart.

A single woman balancing the challenges of career and care-taking, she still finds herself drawn to other people’s lives, where she can lend encouragement and insight. She continues to keep in touch with old friends and new ones she meets from all over the world.

Pat is very aware of her own health issues even as she remains a steady source of comfort not only to those who came before her, but also to the next generation trying to find its way. When she is bequeathed a special, unexpected gift that changes her life, Pat realizes how important it is for each of us to leave a legacy of love.

About the Author

After enjoying motherhood while raising four children, Patsy Gilbert Coleman launched a career as a professional nanny and executive home manager. Born in rural Mississippi, Pat began developing her writing talents at an early age, eventually dedicating herself to her longtime dream of becoming an author. A collection of letters saved throughout the years has helped her chronicle her family’s history in a series of books. Pat lives in Winter Park, Florida, where she continues to write when she’s not reading, singing, ballroom dancing, seeing friends or spending as much time as possible with her nine grandchildren.
