A Rainy Day

About the Book

The story is basically about myself as a young daydreamer. The main character is Jermaine who has time on his hands and an active imagination. He uses his creativity to travel in space to the Milky Way meeting strange creatures along the way. We are left to wonder if it was a daydream or reality.

This is the first in a series of short stories. I hope you like the pictures, which I’ve included.

About the Author

My name is Michael Jackson. I was born in Rochester, New York. I was born with sickle cell anemia. Growing up with this disease was difficult for me. There were trips in and out of the hospital the majority of my life. I managed though, to forge ahead. My life was dramatically altered the year of 1996 due to a car crash. The sickle cell that plagued my body took a turn for the worse. As a result of the injuries I sustained in the collision, I spent the majority of my time in the hospital. It seemed that the crisis would never end.

Years earlier I had written and illustrated a child’s book. Drawing has always been a lifelong passion for me and the completion of this book was a powerful source of pride. While I was fighting what seemed to be a losing battle with this latest crisis my Mother brought the book into the hospital. She thought that sending the book off to publishers would uplift my spirits. It was no use; I went into a fourteen-day coma. Thanks to prayer, God and a strong determined will to live I am now sending to you that child’s story that I created.
