About the Book
For Katie, a visit to her Grandma’s attic means snooping through boxes and trunks filled with family heirlooms. She discovers her Great-Grandmother’s Victorian clothes in an old, battered trunk.
As she plays dress-up she feels the pain of wearing the corset, bustles, buttoned boots and more under the brown wedding dress.
Good memories are made from these visits to the attic and help us to connect with our families.
The authors invite young readers into an adventure from the past for a lovely and memorable time.
About the Author
Born into a family of genealogists, PAT STARK recalls childhood visits to her Aunt Minnie’s farm and the pleasures she found in the old Victorian homestead. Pictures of clothes and memorabilia inspired Pat to study Historic Costume and develop a passion for collecting clothes and stories of the past.
She has her own personal collection that she uses as a ‘living museum’ to entertain audiences with the stories.
DEBBIE STARK, Pat’s daughter is a natural for co-authoring SNOOPS IN THE ATTIC with her degree in Communication from the University of Wyoming. She grew up with the collection, loved to play dress-up as a child and has a special relationship with her niece, CURIOUS KATIE.
WENDY HILL, the illustrator, has known that art was to be her career since the episode in fifth grade when she got in trouble for drawing caricatures of her classmates in French class.
As an art teacher Wendy has used her new technique of watercolors with crayon and gum Arabic to create her unique characters. Attention to detail is one of her talents obviously learned from the many years she worked as a medical illustrator at Southern Alabama University.
All the illustrations in CURIOUS KATIE are drawn from the actual pieces in Pat’s collection. For Wendy, it was a labor of love.
