Ce-Ce is an American Cocker Spaniel that was born from two prize-winning show dogs. The breeders, Christel and Monte Belvedere specialized in American Cocker Spaniel dogs. Together they produced over 15 prize-winning dogs.
Ce-Ce was an arranged birth. Her parents were both prize winners. However, Ce-Ce did not inherent the genetics that the Belvedere’s looked for when selecting a show dog. One day Ce-Ce''s mother overheard the Belvedere’s discussing their concerns. "It looks like we will have to sell
Ce-Ce to one of the local pet stores," said Monte. "Yes, I was thinking the exact same thing" replied Christel. This broke Ce-Ce''s mother heart; she adored her daughter and wanted her to remain in her life always. She glazed at Ce-Ce from a distant, admiring her radiance. Ce-Ce was very loving, sensitive and robust. The back of Ce-Ce’s coat was not curly but very straight. The color was golden red with honey blond highlights. Down the center of her chest and stomach was soft curly white hair. Her ears were curly, red, and floppy. She had big bright dark brown eyes, which changed various shades of color depending on the intensity of her emotions. What Ce-Ce didn''t possess was the round chiseled head that judges looked for when selecting a prize winner, she also had a hard time staying focus when the Belvedere’s performed several test. Christel commented that she believed Ce-Ce might have Attention Deficit.
Although the decision was painful the Belvedere''s decided that they would have to sell Ce-Ce to one of the local pet stores. When Ce-Ce’s mom noticed the Belvedere''s packing away Ce-Ce''s toys she ran to find Ce-Ce to spend some private time alone. She wanted to prepare her little darling as best as she could, and say her good-byes. She looked everywhere, but Ce-Ce was nowhere in sight. All the other puppies were running around the property playing, but where was Ce-Ce? She covered every inch of the outside. She wondered inside, covering the kitchen first because that was one of Ce-Ce''s favorite places. She would hide under the table hoping that someone would drop a portion of their meal, than she would dash out from under the table and gobble it up. It would cause everyone to burst into laughter, because everyone already knew her game. Finally, after almost giving up, her mom found her on the patio taking a nap with the Belvedere''s son. Ce-Ce looked up at her mom with a very sheepish look. She jumped up and ran over to her mom, rubbing her nose against her face. She loved her mother very much. Ce-Ce''s mom laid down in front of the television, and Ce-Ce laid down beside her. She searched for comforting words to give to her darling Ce-Ce. As she was searching for the right words to say, Opral Winfrey appeared on the television screen with her three cocker spaniels. "Ce-Ce, one day you will have a very loving home like Opral''s cocker spaniels." Ce-Ce gave her mother a very confusing look. "What do you mean mama?" asked Ce-Ce. "What I mean is that you will live a life of leisure and experience wonderful times with a family that will cherish you. You will be loved and will never be lonely. You will bring a family pure joy and delight, because you are very special." Ce-Ce looked up into her mothers tear stained eyes, she was still very confused. She had no idea that she would be leaving her mom, and would probably never see her again.
