Les Croyances de l’Haïtien
Pas de vie possible sans croyance, sans un système de représentation des choses. Et la ou un groupement humain, un peuple évolue, on doit nécessairement rencontrer une culture fondée sur un ensemble de croyances, de convictions et de principes. Un regard sur l''histoire des peuples révèle combien les concepts sont chers aux hommes. Pour vivre, ils sentent le besoin de reposer leur foi sur certaines valeurs qui les guident, orientent leurs efforts, les poussent a l''action et pour lesquelles ils donneraient leur sang... On sourit parfois en apprenant pour quels principes les hommes se battent. On dédaigne trop souvent les moeurs des peuples dits primitifs et se targue de sa brillante civilisation. Mais on ignore que l''humanité a passe par ces tâtonnements et qu''en dépit du vernis de la civilisation on conserve au fond de soi-même quelque chose de primitif, cultive quelques superstitions déroutantes même. En se penchant sur la culture d''un peuple, il ne faut pas s''étonner de découvrir des bizarreries, des goûts drôles, ni non plus taxer les gens de barbares quand on observe des cérémonies sanglantes, quand quelques journalistes en mal de sensationnel rapportent des récits invraisemblables.
Avant de condamner, de porter un jugement quelconque, il faut d''abord questionner la culture de ces gens et chercher a les comprendre. Que penserait-on de l’haïtien moule dans un monde superstitieux, un monde peuple de zombis, de loups-garous, ce monde ou les phénomènes surnaturels importent beaucoup, priment et expliquent tout, agacent le pauvre Haïtien, agitent ses nuits de sommeil, troublent le plus d’air de son temps et l''obligent a prendre des mesures nécessaires pour se défendre contre eux, chasser les esprits maléfiques? C''est dans cet univers étrange que nous allons nous introduire. Pourtant, avant toute considération, nous devons préciser le sens de phénomènes surnaturels. Qu''entendons nous par ce terme? C''est tout ce qui arrive de façon insolite: maladies inexplicables, morts subites, tout ce qui peut être accompli, tout ce qui est raconte. D''ou dans ce chapitre les deux grandes subdivisions: a) faits insolites, b) faits racontes.

About the Book
For a long time many people, especially students and colleges and universities were waiting for a book that can teach them everything about Haitians, Folklore, and oral tradition. Finally, it is here.
I plan to publish this book in English, Spanish and many other languages, in order to let people better understand "Haitians" the first free black nation in the new world and the second after the United States of America.
"Folklore is the highest expression of the Heart of a people. Folklore can give a solution to some of the most obscure problems of history, and bring clarity to many speculations".
The systematic exploitation of our folk topics, the in-depth mixing of our cultural richness to the facet will contribute to preserve the originality of a Haitian.
