POEMS
The first part of my book is poems which are words spoken from the inner self to convey a feeling of lightness of heart and bringing a smile to one’s face. Poems also express the beauty that is in all things that God has made in this world in which we live. Most of the time we all live in the fast lane of life not taking the time to see and enjoy our surroundings. Reading a poem will cause a person to dream if only for a moment of time.
THOUGHTS OF THE HEART
The second part of my book is thoughts from the heart. All through life we have encountered trials and tribulations. I am no different. Indeed, I have encountered my share. Years of frustration and indecision can place a toll on one’s life. This way of life leads to confusion and sorrow. From the time I was a child I was brought up to believe in God’s word, the Bible and that Jesus Christ, our Savior, paid the debt for our sins. Living on this earth is not easy; as problems, heartaches and situations arise everyday and each becomes a new challenge. Sometimes we think that we can handle these situations on our own. God understands us and knows our thoughts even before they become actions. In making decisions, sometimes we leave Him out and try to solve our problems with our own strength. He is always standing at our heart’s door, pleading for us to follow Him. Along the way, through the years of living and learning, I have tried with all of my heart to follow God’s teachings and to be an example for my children, friends and associates. But I have not always been successful. Realizing that trying to do things my way, was why I was failing to do His will for my life. Therefore, I turned to the Lord in prayer and He revealed His heart to me. When this revelation came about I felt the necessity to put my thoughts on paper. I am now compelled to share these thoughts, the treasures of my heart, to those of you who may be experiencing some of life’s problems without hope and come to the understanding as I did, that we need the Lord in our life from the time entering this world to the time of our leaving.
STORIES FOR THE CHILDREN
This part of my book features stories that will warm children’s hearts and will spark their imagination. The first story for the children is “The Summer flower”. The story is about nature and how the seasons change and the effects the seasons have on flowers and the trees. The flower being small in statue and surrounded with the largest of trees became afraid to ask her question. She thought that they were too important to give her an answer. But, she had to know before the seasons changed and whether or not she could return. Therefore, she became strong in courage and faced her dilemma putting all fears aside. Surprisingly, she found that she was worried unnecessarily. A few days went by and just when she thought she would not receive an answer, the Great Oak bent down with his branches and began to tell her of the promise of the renewal of life. His answer made her heart jump for joy.
The story of “The Leaf and the Flowers” teaches of hope and faith of things to come even when there seems to be no hope. The flowers of the woods could only see the tattered and torn exterior of the leaf. They could not understand his optimism. As the wind started whipping up, the more excited the leaf became for he knew that he would soon be on his way exploring other parts of the world.
The story of “Little Whiskers” is about a mother’s love that is expressed by patience and care. Little Whiskers’ mother was attempting to teach her child the most important things of life upon which his future would depend. And when he thought he had failed his mom and how disappointed she would be, he began to cry. Seeing the tears in her child’s eyes, she picked him up and comforted him. With a smile in her eyes she said, “There’s always another day”.
Another story entitled, “The Great Fall” demonstrates to the young that they can learn from their elders in preparing and facing the different stages of life. The younger ones should not mock the elders but listen with respect. Listening to their elders will lead the young in becoming wiser; knowing the gift of life is from our Creator who lives forever.
