About the Author

Expressions from a Reflective Soul is the first book written by Kimberley Stokes.  Kimberley, who has been writing for over ten years, has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Youngstown State University (YSU) in Youngstown, Ohio.

Stokes began her professional writing career while a full-time student at YSU, where she started as sports editor, and later became managing editor of the school newspaper, The Jambar. Kimberley also worked for The Buckeye Review newspaper as the layout and design manager from 1994-1996. In 2000, her poem titled “Men” was published in the book In-Between Day and in 2002, she collaborated with artist Lamond Stokes for an exhibit at the Southern University System Museums of Art in Baton Rouge and Shreveport, Louisiana.  Kimberley describes her poetry as expressive and to the point.  She says, “By experiencing life’s ups and downs and listening to other people’s trials and tribulations; I have learned that often people are not able to explain how they really feel because they cannot find the right words or sentences to convey it to others. I have been blessed with the ability to articulate those words and sentences to describe the feelings most of us experience.”

Stokes, who is a native of Newark, New Jersey, grew up in Denver, Colorado and currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and son.
