REMEMBER WHEN
I heard my baby’s heartbeat
I counted the toes on his feet
I watched him grow
Taught him to play ball and throw
All the bear hugs
Coloring on the rug
Counting the stars underneath the moonlight
Telling ghost stories by the fire at night
Now he is all grown
And has children of his own
I will always have those memories in my heart
And I am so glad that God chose me to play that part

As I look from the heavens above
And glance upon your face
I see the tears fall from your eyes
If you could hear me now I pray
Lord be with you
Now that I have come home to stay
Be strong, don’t lose faith
He will illuminate the way
For I live in your memories
And He in your heart
Keep your love and trust
We’ll never be a part
Lord I pray take your hand
And lead you from day to day
Hold your head up high
Let Him wipe the tears from your face
For you to see I am in a far better place
My work on earth is done
And yours is still to come
Though I had to leave
I left a part of me with you
So hold it close
Cherish it through the years
One day soon I will see you again my dear

About the Book
The poems in this book are an accumulation of thoughts and feelings about family and friends and the world today. Some are pieces that others have asked me to write to use as gifts for Father’s Day, graduation- even a baby shower. While I will leave it to you, the reader, to discover that which lies between these covers, I will share one special anecdote. My father’s particular favorite is the “Pride”; he carries it everywhere and shares it with people he meets.
