About the Book

Bondage, Gunshots and Mergers is an anthology of stories from life on the road as a PeopleSoft consultant.  After nine years of getting lost in small towns, stranded in airports and abused by customers, Peter takes a humorous look of the trials and tribulations of a traveling software consultant. Handholding some of his customers through a difficult implementation becomes even more challenging after Oracle announced its hostile takeover attempt of PeopleSoft in 2003.   “Bondage, Gunshots and Mergers” also takes us through the last nine years of PeopleSoft’s company history through the completion of the Oracle/PeopleSoft merger agreement in late 2004.  “Bondage, Gunshots and Mergers” is about the consulting life, the humor found on the road and the impact to maintaining a quality family life as well.

About the Author

Peter Wortham is a pseudonym for an author living in South Eastern Michigan and working for PeopleSoft the past 9 years.  Coming from a banking and insurance background, Peter was leading development teams and major IT projects at the age of 24.  Moving to PeopleSoft in 1995, Peter quickly improved his consulting skills and was promoted into the consulting management ranks.  Peter is married and lives with his wife and three children in Michigan, while still traveling extensively for the PeopleSoft/Oracle management team.  Peter brings this experience and a humorous slant on consulting and family life to the pages of this book.
