Salina sat in the stinking jail cell fuming. She was furious! She hadn’t tried to kill Katina Bellamy. She had gone over to the woman’s house to harass her about Marvin. She was going to threaten to kill her, but she never had any intentions of really doing it. Salina was a lot of things, but she was no murderer. She paced back and forth in the small space. What was taking Marvin so long to bail her out?! If he bailed her out! Black Bastard! Salina lay across the thin cot and closed her eyes. All she wanted was for Katina to stay out of her husband’s life. It was jealousy that made her go over to the woman’s house and she was looking for a fight. It was stupid of her to have parked her car way out on the curb. In Riverhill that was a very suspicious thing to do and the very reason she’d been arrested. She really hadn’t planned on being there long and it was an extreme thing for her to do, but she couldn’t help herself. She hated Katina. Dressed in all black, Salina crept down the long driveway, up the back staircase and down to Katina’s room. Loud voices blaring through the thick glass doors stopped Salina cold in her tracks and she hid in the corner of the terrace. The voices were muffled at times, but occasionally she could hear “Bitch!... Liar!... Princeton!... Phony... Die!...” Salina could hear a lot of rustling sounds, as if the people were fighting and glass was breaking.
