Introduction
Some people grow old, become overweight, or contract various diseases. Their bodies break down, and they become bent and wrinkled. While others grow old gracefully and maintain a certain amount of strength, good health and fitness. A big factor in the aging process is determined by genetics. In this day and time, we do not have to let genetics be the absolute determining factor. Lifestyle does play an important fact in our aging process. Just because our mothers, fathers, and other families have had certain health problems doesn’t mean that we have to have the same problems. More information is available to us today than when our ancestors were our age. If we take heed to the knowledge, which is obtainable to us through researchers we can help to avoid the pitfalls of certain diseases and illnesses during the aging process.
Although none of us has found a fountain of youth, or a cure for aging, we can however, lessen the negative effects of aging by taking care of our bodies, and our minds.
With the help of diet, exercise, and a good attitude about life, most of us can grow into our older years, with a reasonable amount of good health.
As we age our lives change, but, if we follow a few well known facts that have been documented by many researchers, doctors, and scientists we can help to reverse the aging process.
As noted in Dr. Rozein’s book” Real Age”, and Dr Weil’s writings on health and fitness, there are many ways to turn the clock back so that the aging process is not a painful experience.
It all starts with attitude. If you think of yourself as old, you will definitely be old. If you enjoy life while you are here, garner as much pleasure in the small things, live in the moment, never stop learning new things, do plenty of exercise, eat a healthy diet, keep an active social life, and make an effort to take care of yourself then you will have a much better chance of maintaining good health and wellness for many years to come.
In writing Fit and Fabulous, I have gathered information from many sources of reference, including my experience in writing diets in a hospital some years ago. Much of the information is from personal experiences, however I have had a fascination with good health for many years, and have read many books on diet, exercise and vitamins and herbs. Prevention magazine’s book on Healing with Vitamins is a good source of knowledge for those who need to know how to keep their health with the use of vitamins. Dr. Andrew Weil’s book, “ 8 Weeks To Optimum Health” is an excellent source of information to help jump-start your way to a healthy lifestyle. “It works for me. I hope it will work for you.”
All of the information in the chapters to follow have helped me to maintain my weight, and manage to have my size six figure, along with an exceptional amount of energy and vitality at age sixty-five.
If you are under a Doctor’s care, you must use caution, and ask your Doctor’s advise before doing any of the exercises, or going on any of the diets
contained in this book.
