James Martin stood up from the oak chair and walked over to the long mirror across the room. He was dressed in his tuxedo ready to marry his fiance Victoria Brenden.

I’m ready! Stop thinking about Lavender! James told himself aloud. He couldn’t help it. Lavender Springer was always on his mind. Her beautiful green eyes haunted his dreams on countless nights. She was perfect and had always been perfect. James shook his head and paced around the room. No! No! No! Stop it James! You’re getting married to Victoria in fifteen minutes; Lav is part of your past! James told himself. He had never told his childhood friend that he was madly in love with her ever since they met fourteen years ago. James kept pacing until a knock at the door interrupted his thoughts.

"Come in!"

The doorknob turned and Victoria Brenden slowly walked into the room dressed in a long white wedding dress. Her plain, long, blond hair was pulled up in a bun with a few curls hanging down and string of pearls hung loosely around her neck.

"I know it is bad luck to have you see me before the wedding but I need to tell you something." Victoria said. She walked over to the chair that he had previously been sitting on. She smiled at him and folded her arms over her lap. "First, I had to tell a few ‘select’ people to stay outside the church just in case she decided to come."

James’ mouth flew open but she began before any words could come out. "James, I just can’t have her here! I just want you all to myself, and . . . " Victoria stood up and walked over to him and wrapping her arms around his neck, she let her smile get wider. "We’re having a baby."
