Verdie a naive sixteen-year-old girl meets Bill a man seven years older than her. They fall in love and in six months they marry. Little did she know that seventeen years later she would be the mother of ten children. Their story is about hardships, sickness and poverty.

 

This is a true story about a family with little education but was granted a degree in common sense and the knowledge to survive the depression and other life’s problems. A story of a mother who worked hard and had the responsibility of caring for the children with only the bare necessities. A father who had to spend much of his time at work in the coal mines. The children had to learn early to work and do their share.


About the Author

She grew up in a small town in West Virginia. She was the seventh often children and was the first in the family to graduate from high school. She never married but spent a lot of time with her nieces and nephews. She is an active member of her church where she serves as lay leader/speaker, trustee, and secretary of administrative board.

 

Her hobbies are writing, reading, quilting, and has a collection of pens from around the world and United States.

 

She lives with her two sisters. She is an animal lover and has four cats and one dog.
