About the Book

WHO IS THE MOMMA NOW A Personal Story and Caretaking Guide When you were younger, did it ever cross your mind that you would become the caretaker for your spouse, parents or loved ones? Nah……….probably not. It certainly was not on my mind. I was just trying to keep the family together; our heads above water; raise the kids, and get them through school. Well, ……….ready or not, as my mom became older, my turn arrived. This is an entertaining story of my mom’s life and how I became her caretaker. In the beginning, I resented the intrusion on my freedom, but after a couple of years of working on an attitude adjustment, the experience for both mom and I became priceless. I devised this guide from mistakes made, information gathered from agencies, decisions made through trial and error, ideas and suggestions from her nannies, and oodles of love from mom gathered over the 13 years I cared for her. Hopefully, you will enjoy her story and obtain some good ideas, important information and insight from this very personal book. Gather it all together and be ready when you wonder to yourself one day, “Who Is The Momma Now”.

About the Author

Born in the City of Boston, Massachusetts, Ann Fisher-Durrah was raised and began her life in the suburb of West Medford, which offered a multicultural environment.

It was this atmosphere where her broad ideas and attitudes were formed.  Growing up as a teen, she was involved in multiple activities, being part of a singing group, riding motorcycles and reading books all of the time.  West Medford was the “family root” of support with uncles, aunts, cousins, a sister and other close family friends.

Older and widowed early, she moved her family to Texas, to give them a broader view of real life.  She began to travel and became exposed to different countries and cultures, which opened up new opportunities and incentives for her and her family to explore.

After caring for her elderly mom from age 90 until her recent death of 101, she decided to write about her mom’s wonderfully life and the funny and heartbreaking journey taken.  She has also added a short guide, a helpful document sheet and “need to know” information that may assist others embarking on this same journey.
