FISTFUL OF HUNDREDS
Of all the costumes I have put together, this is the most original and my personal favorite. But I must say it’s also the most uncomfortable to be in. This costume took the longest and was the most expensive to make, costing about seventy dollars to put together. After this costume I set the limit as to how much I would spend on materials at twenty dollars.
I’m out to make people laugh, but I didn’t want to spend more than the party givers were willing to dole out for prizes (simple economics).
I won first prize at the old Sunnyside Restaurant, then tried to get down to another beach bar in Narragansett R.I. I wanted to get in the costume competition there and possibly win twice in one night, but I was too late to be judged. Everyone said I would have won had I arrived in time – but I guess you can’t be two places at once! After the contest, people wanted to dance and my fist was so big I had to put it outside to make room and someone lit it on fire. I was able to save the faceplate. I had never drawn anything like that before.
