About the Author

            Carl A. Lewis is a bolt of energy determined to make any situation work.  His knowledge was accomplished in Norwalk and Stamford, Connecticut.  Carl has received several awards for his comprehensive community-based programs.  They are still in operation today in Stamford, Connecticut.

            A native Washingtonian, Melba L. Eldridge has blended work as a nurse with her passion to make joyful noise on trumpet.  She has developed a caring ear to patients and visits them in nursing homes.  Melba formed a volunteer group “God’s Choice” whom tours churches, prisons and nursing homes.

            African American men have been very significant in the author’s lives.  By way of Mount Jezreel Baptist Church; the authors have joined their worship experience to ease the struggle of all men seeking God.
