The Earthlight Lessons Book One

You live in a world of illusion, one built by the thoughts and expectations of a material world. This is not the real world. Reality is veiled to you because you have chosen it to be so. For the student of Truth, part of the quest is the lifting of this veil, the sweeping away of illusion. For the seeker, there will be the desire to be more finely tuned, for there to be accuracy in discernment, an understanding of the Holy Spirit and for all doubt to be swept away along with illusion. In essence, the student seeks clarity of mind and purpose so that he may go forth in confidence, knowing self.

In the beginning, the most important task in sweeping away illusion is the dismantling of the “image” of self; those qualities, those perspectives in self, that you have chosen to hide behind, chosen to hide from the REAL you.

Now it is necessary to understand what is the “I AM”. The answer, “I AM THAT I AM”. There is no judgment in this statement, yet there is the affirmation of existence, of significance, not of ego, but of the simple truth of existence that “I AM”. Know too that all that exists has a purpose. This again is NOT ego. The student must cleanse himself of those illusions built by ego.

If one would hear, see and discern clearly, one must first look upon self. Look into self. Look at those labels that say “who” I am. In doing this, each statement made in word or mind that begins, “I am this...I am that...I would always do this...I would never do that...”, those emphatic statements that speak to others of who you are, what you stand for, what you believe in or believe yourself to be, must be dismissed.

Here enters fear, fear of losing the sense of self.  Yet, it is promised to you that you will gain a sense of greater self, more clarity of that which is “I AM”. This will come with the sweeping away of illusion. This sweeping away begins with the learning to challenge those statements that self makes when he proclaims self, or ego. There will be great resistance here, for all are fond of the familiar, that persona built up for the benefit of others and for the security of self. You do see that this in itself is limiting, and the seeker WILL be limited unless he uses his ability to overcome illusion. Know too that each one of you has the ability to overcome illusion.

We will have the student, daily until the lesson is complete, challenge everything that is said or thought that begins with “I am...I do...I want,” anything that begins with “I”, until the thoughts and the words do not require the “I” that is of ego, yet speak of the greater “I,” the “I AM THAT I AM”.

We will speak now of desire. Know that for those attuned spiritually, there are no desires. NONE! Including those which seem spiritual desires. For to the attuned, desire is replaced by surety, the surety of purpose and the communion with that one that is ONE.

When there comes those thoughts, “I want...I will do...It would be good for me to...,” let there be the challenge. Deny and fight those thoughts, words, desires. In doing so, you will see only those that occur again and again, those that fight for life. These are your serious obstacles. For the spiritual student, there will come the voice of intuition, the voice of understanding, not the voice of desire, not the voice of even the finest purpose that would come from self or that “I” which is ego.

It is necessary to understand the difference between ego and self esteem. Ego is selfishness, that which separates you from GOD and your fellowman. Self esteem is the “AM” of the “I AM”.
