Jason put his hand on my head and started running his fingers through my hair. Then he started gazing into my eyes. I felt like I was hypnotized. I broke the eye contact and looked over his head. There sitting on the stairs to the side of the volleyball net was Dameon, listening to every word of our conversation. Jason turned around and looked at Dameon.
He nudged me forward and started walking ahead of me. After proving my point of him not sharing anything he finally let me borrow his hat. When I walked in the classroom with it Tamika nearly freaked.
“What are you doing with daddy’s hat?” she yelled.
Jason was supposed to be me and Tamika’s play father. Tamika didn’t like the fact Jason paid more attention to me. I told her I deserved to wear his hat since he always wears my ring. She couldn’t say nothing about that. Yes, I admit, I was happy he let me wear it. I thought I deserved it.
Tamika saw something nobody else saw happen between Jason and me. I was talking about my ring and the conversation sort of died out. He started staring deep into my eyes again. He put his hand on my cheek and rubbed it.

“The Way Life Came To Me” is a realistic story for adolescents of today. The main character Chavaun, shares her experiences through middle school, and high school. She learns a lot about her friends, her foes, herself, and life. It is the perfect book to let the adolescent community know that they are not the only one’s that have these experiences. It wouldn’t hurt for the parents to read either. It will help them remember, and help them to relate better with their kids.
Chavaun goes from learning to deal with boys romantically, to doing without them. She learns how to be her own person. It wasn’t easy and her life wasn’t like the T.V. shows she watched or the books she read.
