But if you’re just going for plunder, and the good citizens of the city resist, ... lay siege to it, and when the Lord, your God, delivers it into your hand, put every male in it to the sword; but the women and children and livestock and all else in it that is worth plundering you may take as your booty. Women, children, and livestock were easy to control and herd back home, but kill all the men, they could slow you down and cause trouble later. That is how you shall deal with any city at a considerable distance from you, WHICH DOES NOT BELONG TO THE PEOPLES OF THIS LAND. These battles had nothing to do with “taking” the promised land! These battles were about looting, plunder, and slaves! Of course God, either now or later, got all the gold and silver. Oh, and his share of the virgins.
But close to home, the rules changed drastically. ...in the cities which the Lord, your God, is giving you as your heritage, YOU SHALL NOT LEAVE A SINGLE SOUL ALIVE. You must doom them all AS THE LORD, YOUR GOD, HAS COMMANDED YOU. (Deuteronomy 20:10)

THE GOD OF THE JEWS WAS A WAR GOD! 5,003,743 human beings lost their lives because of God’s army. When you know and remember this, many other things you read about in the Old Testament of the Bible fall into place.

About the Book
How many humans died in the Old Testament? Twelve thousand died in this battle, thirty thousand in that slaughter, page after page of death and total destruction.

About the Author
Keith Stephens was born and grew up in a little town in the south end of the great San Joaquin Valley in California. He had only one brother, and lived with his mother and father at the edge of town. He was just close enough to the local airport to see the small planes make the final approach, and watch in fascination.
He serviced television and appliances as a young man, but found his first love to be farming. He first worked for others, turned to orange packing for Sunkist, then realized a dream when he bought a farm of his own. But his fascination with airplanes was ever present. Keith was building flying models when he met his wife, Anne. They were both volunteers in Civil Air Patrol and both rose to the rank of captain.
Keith first became interested in writing while working on the school newspaper. He has had several opinion pieces printed, and became serious about writing after researching the number of deaths in the Old Testament of the Christian Bible. He has been a member of Writers of Kern, a branch of California Writers Club for seven years. “Mouse Trails” is Keith’s first book.
