Wrong Man Magnet

Yesterday I was young and stupid

yesterday I believed in cupid

I had a dream that you would share

     my life

            forever being there.

A silly child I must have been

     yesterday

            away back then.

Today’s the day that God gave me

I look for dreams, but can only see

     cold,

hard facts –

                 reality!

Today I’m grown

yes, I’ve matured

desires to dream have now been cured.

     Still –

            I harbor in my mind

                 loving ways

                      so sweet and kind

and wish to God it could have been

     a fact –

            instead of just a yen!

JEALOUSY

Jealousy?

I wish it were that simple,

but jealousy’s nothing but a pimple

on the butt of the real thing…

my jealousy’s roots grow and cling

around your winking, smiling lies

as you use your baby, light blue eyes

like a tool

for any fool

as they hold

so very bold

every woman

who

comes into view.

I’m embarrassed,

ashamed to be seen

with someone who seems so keen

for someone else

he can’t wait

‘till he’s by himself

in front of me,

time and again

you do your thing…

have you no shame?

Turn me loose

I’m getting out

to find what love is all about

I might still feel this jealousy

but I just have to go and see.
