Man is contaminated with sin!
It is an infectious “disease” that has spread from Adam to the entire human race! Someone once said: “Adam introduced the principle of sin and the dike broke, and an all-engulfing sea of sin swept in!” - “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans
Adam’s Sin affects all who are part of the human race! - This includes every person!
Jesus Christ’s Righteousness affects all who are part of His spiritual race! A blessing that includes only Born-Again Believers!
God’s wonderful love for us made it possible!
Some years ago, John, a friend of mine from church, was the principal of a public high school. One particular day, John was very upbeat in describing his school’s graduation ceremony, which had taken place a few days earlier. In an effort to inspire and motivate the graduating high school senior class, the invited celebrity speaker presented to them a very succinct rhyme composed of 10 words, each word containing 2 letters! The jubilant and attentive graduating seniors enthusiastically applauded his extremely clever, deeply meaningful, and truly persuasive, mandate to them:
“IF IT IS TO BE, IT IS UP TO ME!”
As you and I consider that we are given the same freedom of choice as contained in those ten words, we know that if we are to make a decision to receive Jesus Christ as our Savior, IT IS UP TO US! - Christ never forces Himself on anyone!
Living our lives “under the umbrella of God’s grace” is incompatible with harboring the sin principle. We are “dead to sin.” (Romans 6: 2) It is an indelible theme throughout the 6th chapter of Romans, - “For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness” (Romans
I’ve pondered the clever, and very motivating, rhyming sentence that was presented to the high school graduating class and decided to add a second rhyming sentence, which I feel could help us in our daily Christian walk. If we take the time to memorize this little poem, it will help to validate and affirm our heartfelt declaration and commitment, as followers of Christ. Especially, as we seek the fullness of God’s indwelling Holy Spirit to guide us and to help us to live a life pleasing to Him. Also, we would then be able to share this little poem with others, which would surely speak to their hearts as well.
