Day Five Satan Is a Thief “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10 Have you been to the zoo and observed the lions? If not, often there are lion documentaries on TV that describe their habitat, behaviors and show what beautiful creatures they are. With all of their beauty, this wild animal is a killer. They destroy their prey for survival. There is an enemy of your soul, my friend. His name is Satan. We all have seen cartoons of a depiction of him; red suit, tail, horns with a pitch fork. We all laugh. It’s a comical picture. Don’t be fooled for a minute, this guy is for real and his job is to destroy you! The Bible describes the devil as a “roaring lion looking for someone to eat” (I Peter 5:8). He is out to get you! Now, what is interesting, he doesn’t show up with a big red sign on his nose saying, “Beware, beware, I am bad news for you and will destroy your life”. Not at all! In fact, he is much like the lion that looks soft and cuddly. But I would not recommend that you cuddle with a lion…or your enemy, the devil. As a new believer in Christ, you are particularly a target for Satan. The last thing he wants is for you to live a different life than before you were saved. He doesn’t want you living for Jesus, certainly not reading the Bible. The Bible tells us that “Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light” (II Corinthians Jesus gives us some clues to determine if something is from the devil: N If it will “steal” anything of yours, such as your honesty or your innocence, it is of the devil. N If it will “kill” anything of ours, such as your hope or your desire to do well, it is of the devil. N If it will “destroy” anything of yours, such as your good reputation or your faith, it is of the devil. Satan wants to ruin your life. Jesus wants to bless your life. When you choose Jesus’ way, you win a great victory over the devil. Praise God! Pray this prayer: “Jesus, please give me the wisdom to make the right choices.” Amen Reach for your Bible and read: John 10:7-11
