About the Book

This treasury of literature is skillfully written, highly imaginative, extremely interesting, truly enlightening and “pleasantly refreshing.” Her amazing works excite, inform and entertain as they tease the imagination, challenge the intellect, and appeal to the emotions. They are action-packed, bloated with powerful imagery, loaded with substance and filled with suspense. Throughout their stunning pages, they deal seriously, delicately and delightfully with important everyday issues in a profound way. Resounding themes—love, friendship, romance, marriage, loneliness, courage, hatred, terror, deception, prejudice, hope, victory, defeat, death, bondage, sin, pain and suffering, happiness, human barriers, forgiveness, etc—abound in a truly unique manner. Readers—young, middle-aged, elderly, nonprofessional and professional—can identify with or relate to the real life and fictional characters. Threads of truth run throughout each piece of literature, even if it is fictional, and her strict religious upbringing infiltrates and influences her writing to the degree that many of her stories acknowledge the existence of God and teach important moral lessons. A variety of writing styles are evident, and a wealth of knowledge and experiences is dispersed throughout this repertoire of literary works—novelettes, short stories, character sketches, tributes, poems, autobiographies and biographies. The language is vivid, colorful, highly descriptive and equally compelling. These works are delightful, inspirational, educational, thought-provoking, enchanting and sensuous as well as mystical. Overall, they tend to challenge the mind, excite the heart and awake the soul.

About the Author

A meticulous, scholarly, culturally refined professional with skillful mastery of the English language in both written and oral communication, Ms. C.E. Taylor—a novelist, short story writer, poet, playwright and director, speech composer, orator and master teacher—is extremely articulate, gifted, and versatile.  In 1968 she received a Bachelor of Science degree (with a Major in English and a Minor in Speech and Drama) and in 1976 a Master’s degree in English Education.  She ranked “cum laude” among the most scholarly of her colleagues as both an Undergraduate and a Graduate.  Ms. Taylor has many years of experience teaching English and Speech and skillfully writing fiction and non-fiction as well as poetry and formal speeches.

In 1996, with some assistance from two former coworkers in the English Department (Nancy Trottier and Linda Murray), a competent Dean of Instruction (Delores Westmoreland),  and the professional supervision of the principal of Kashemere Senior High School (Mr. David Alexander,), she developed a unique workbook entitled The    K-RAM TAAS Challenger, utilized by the Kashmere Senior High School English Department (and English departments at other schools in the Houston Independent School District) for student preparation and mastery of the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS) in reading and writing.

In 1997 this dynamic teaching tool became a “textbook” for teaching high school students to successfully master the TAAS in both academic areas.  Today it is still being utilized as a teaching tool by many of the English teachers in the district, years after the extinction of the TAAS.
