“A what?”
“A Magellan locator.”
“Now why would I do that?”
“I don’t know if you didn’t, someone wants to know
where you are.” Screwball laughed. “Maybe Carmen?”
“Screwball, you know better than that, she trusts
me.”
“Just joking. I wonder who put it on. They wired it into your markers, sloppy job
when you hit your lights it shorts them out.”
“Who ever owns these loads had it done,” Professor
replied. “When the guard caught those
two, he said the other two got away, I’ll bet they put this thing on while we
were talking to the other two.”
“I’ll bet you’re right Professor, they didn’t want to
lose us again.”
“What are we going to do?” Zorro asked.
“Take it off,” Nut replied.
“Hand me some wire cutters, tape and a screwdriver
Red.”
“Sure thing it will take a minute.” Red said as she
reached in her side box to get the things needed to do the job.
Screwball cut the wires and took the screws out and
started to throw the box.
“No, Screwball don’t, throw that box!” Nut said,
“Hand it down let’s put that locator too good use.” Nut took the locator when Screwball handed it
down and passed it on to Red.
“What can we do with that thing?” Zorro asked
Professor started laughing. “What we really need to do is put that unit
on another vehicle.”
Zorro laughed.
“Why not, that would blow their minds regardless of who they are?”
Screwball nodded his head and said. “We’ll find something.” He handed down the screwdriver, tape and the
wire cutters so Red could put them back in her tool box.
“Got light problems, need any help?” Another trucker walked by and asked as Red
sat the locator down.
“No, just boss problems.” Red answered.
“Me too. What’d he do?”
“Installed a locator on
Zorro’s rig without telling him.” Nut said.
“Man that is low.” The other driver laughed and said.
“Want to help us play a trick on him?” Red said and laughed.
“Sure will.
I’ll be more than happy to help. But how?”
“We’ll install the locator on your rig. When you stop again get another trucker to
put it on his rig. It’ll drive Zorro’s
boss crazy trying to figure out where he is.”
Red suggested.
The trucker laughed.
“Sure, I’ll do that, I like confusing bosses.”
“It’ll take about fifteen minutes,
all we need is a hook up.” Zorro
replied.
“Hook it into the marker, when I turn them off it’ll
go dead. That’ll confuse them.”
Screwball climbed up on the other drivers
trailer and installed the locator.

About the Author
He
is a poet and novelist belonging to the International Society of Poets with
several poems published in their books of poetry .He has received the Poet of
Merit Award numerous times.
He
also has one novel published, 'OVERFLIGHT', one of five in that series that
told the story of who came here twelve thousand years ago and what they did.
He
is a retired truck driver after he drove forty years and four and a half
million miles. He is also an avid golfer and club builder. He is now in the
process of writing a novel about the eighteen fifties, a story of love,
marriage and the Civil War.
The
background of the poems and novels were conceived in the long hours and miles
of cross-country as he drove and thought. The plots of the novels and poems
were the result of talking to people along the highways and byways of this
