Once, Vivek Muni invited me to go to the market place to do our shopping together. Normally he would do shopping alone or send someone to do it. It was a sign of getting closer to me. We took a rickshaw to the market. We arrived at the market and started walking between the different stands and shops.
Suddenly Vivek Muni took hold of my hand and we continued walking holding hands. I was a bit embarrassed as in the country I come from men do not hold hands. In
However, Vivek Muni was not an average person and holding my hand had an altogether different meaning. I felt that with holding my hand he said: “Now I have come with you to the world, to the market. Are you still with me? Are you going to get lost and leave me alone? Do not forget it’s always love first.”
It was always to remember myself first. Remember that every thing has a heart. There is depth to all appearances. It was like walking under a vow. The shopping experience became an intimate affair. Every smile or conversation with the shopkeepers became real. It was not just a means to get my work done. Life became meaningful.
All my energy was involved in the exploration of this new inner dimension. I could hardly speak.
Vivek Muni was at home with this inner dimension, and seeing me yielding to it, he became happy and started enjoying the market. The whole thing happened without words. He was like a child getting excited, seeing new things in different colors and shapes. For him there was no contradiction between the outer and the inner. He saw that I was speechless and whenever it was necessary in the market place, he came out to cover me.
He looked at me and said smiling: “I know you like to drink Lassi (a cold yoghurt drink made with sugar and spices, sometimes with banana), let’s have one”. Lassi is the most refreshing drink you can have on a hot day. To quench our thirst we had two big glasses of Lassi. After that, life looked much easier. We came back home, to the temple where Vivek Muni lived. I felt satisfied and the bond with Vivek Muni grew and deepened.

About the Book
"The Other Shore"
is the real story of Dvir, who was brought up in western culture and on April of 1988 traveled to India, determined not to come back the same man. The young man finds himself in a forgotten world of simplicity and slow pace, where the only vehicle to take him through life is trust. He studies with the illustrious Dagar family, who had preserved the sacred music of India for 20 generations. In his search he encounters Vivek Muni, a young and unusual sage, and feels drawn to him by a mysterious force. The young sage takes him in as his adopted son on a journey to the mysterious world of the Indian seers and mystics.Dvir learns to speak the Hindi language fluently, and starts to move in India almost unrecognized as a foreigner. All along the way, Dvir’s inner world is shaken apart, as he struggles to find that "real thing" which he came to look for. When the clock shows that he has spent three years and three months in India, he feels it is time to go back home. The "deep plunge" he took into India made in him a bridge between the western and eastern cultures. He returns with a new spirit.
About the Author
Dvir was born and raised in Israel. His spiritual quest took him to India where he studied the classical music of India. He spent 7 years in India studying with the illustrious Dagar family and different spiritual masters. He has extensively studied the cultures, religions and healing arts of the Far East, in particular of India. He has completed training in Ayur-Veda (Indian science of life and medicine) at MIU University Iowa, USA, and has completed training in Zen Shiatsu (Japanese healing art) in Israel. He has participated in numerous healing and metaphysical courses in India, Europe, and the US, as well as teaching and performing in these continents. Today he lives in Sedona, USA.
