About the Book
THE HEARTBREAK OF ALZHEIMER'S is a true account of how Alzheimer's
disease affected the author's husband, his family and friends. It describes the
first noticeable symptoms and, as the disease progressed, the gradual deterioration
of his cognitive skills. It relates how the disease was diagnosed in February,
1996; how the family coped with it, and the heart-wrenching decision to place
him in a care center in May, 2001. The author relates how he was sent to a

The author compiled this book from notes which she recorded during her
husband's illness and it is hoped that information in this book will be helpful
to others who also may be experiencing similar situations with loved ones.
The book also includes a list of suggestions for the caregiver.
About the Author
Mabel (Hayes) Pollock was born in
In 1943, she married Ralph Pollock who passed away in February, 2003 after suffering from Alzheimer's disease for approximately eight years. She lives on a farm near Newcomers town and has two daughters and four grandchildren.
In addition to THE HEARTBREAK OF ALZHEIMER'S, Mabel is the author of OUR STATE OHIO, published in 2001 and THE CRUSADE OF THE CHILDREN, published in 2002.
