About the Author

Born at Ft. Lewis, Washington to Vietnam and retired Army First Sergeant Armor Scout Don Gilmore and communications specialist Dorothea Gilmore, I traveled around the world with dad, mom and sister, Jennifer via US ARMY.  I graduated from Wuerzburg American high school, Germany.  My nurses training was at Norwich University-The Military College of Vermont.  I graduated with Army ROTC Distinguished Military honors and valedictorian of Baccalaureate Nursing class.

Service of regular Army commission as Army officer lasted four years active and four year reserve inactive.  Duty stations included a leadership course a Ft. Sam Houston, TX., Ft. Knox, KY., Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington D.C.  Army Nursing training included Intensive Care Nursing course certifying  for PICU, MICU, CCU, Open Heart recovery, and Surgical Intensive care.  Also held various leadership roles and obtained the national certification in critical care (CCRN).

After military service and return home to family in Kentucky, several opportunities opened along the way to work as Nursing Instructor for LPN program at Spencerian College (Louisville, KY), ICU and open heart recovery and management role at Hardin Memorial Hospital (Elizabethtown, KY), Management and House Supervision/staffing coordinator at Caritas Medical Center (Louisville, KY).  Currently employed at Jewish Hospital (Louisville, KY) for Emergency Services and functioning in a charge nurse role, I am working on a Master’s Degree in Nursing.

Husband James and son Jacob live together in Vine Grove, KY.  James is currently working on Master’s Degree in Education and is employed at North Hardin High School as a Social Studies teacher for tenth grade.  James is also the Head coach for the high school soccer program.  Andrea and James are jointly enrolled at ‘In Christ’s Image’ training center for ministry (Cedar Rapids, IA) to obtain licensing and certification in the ministry of the Gospel in order to fulfill the pursuit God has on their lives.
