When she visited the isolated place on the
outskirts of the town, she could appreciate nature in all its
splendor. There, birds gathered daily in
bevies, as if they had an appointment to meet. The melodious murmur of their
songs gave a touch of beauty to the place; this harmony was precisely what
Sandra enjoyed, and therefore the secret spot became invaluable to her. In that
place, where silence was only interrupted by the delicate flapping of wings,
she meditated and let her romantic feelings flow. It was certainly an inspiring
spot, where she wrote verses. Her muses were the environment and that young
man, for whom she could ignore everything. He was always on her mind.
One afternoon, while she was thoughtfully
sitting on the log of an old fallen tree, she suddenly heard somebody
approaching the quiet spot. She got
frightened, and she rose abruptly. When she realized who the intruder was, she
almost fainted. It was him the young man she liked so much, and with whom she
maintained a wordless friendship. He was standing there, in front of her. He
was wearing black slacks and a white shirt, and somehow his clothing seemed to
stress his personality. She was quite surprised by him and grew anxious. Without being able to prevent it, she
blushed. When she recovered from the initial impact, she reacted with a nervous
and quick movement, stretched her hands toward the ground to fetch her notebook
and her pencil, and started to walk away.
Suddenly, he spoke to her.
“Hello, Miss Sandra. How are you?” She halted and looked back at him.
She could not believe it. He was there, beside her. Tremulous, and with a voice broken by
surprise, she answered him.
“Fine, and you?” With a movement accomplished by sheer nerve,
she continued to walk further away from him, but he tried to stop her.
“Where are you going? Are you in a hurry, or
are you leaving just because I have arrived?” he asked.
“No! Of course not!” she answered.
“Please, do not leave. It is me who is
leaving,” he insisted.
“Oh, no…well, yes…no! What I mean is that
before you arrived, I was already about to go home. I have been here for a long
while already,” she explained hurriedly.
“Oh, I see. And do you often visit this place?”
asked Mario.
