Outwardly, the lunchroom looks
normal, but it's actually full of weird and interesting happenings. These
happenings become stories. Stories are what this book is all about ... stories
about kids just dealing with life.
Let's start right here in the
lunchroom.
Some cafeteria food is very
colorful. I've seen purple fuzz on my pizza, green ham, and scrambled eggs that
change color in different light. Of course, there is mystery meat, unheard of
vegetables, and the pudding. Pudding you cannot tell is pudding. The kids say
some food looks better thrown up than eaten. They may be right. After enough
samples of school cafeteria food, your stomach becomes biologically resistive
to all forms of disease.
In the lunchroom, there is always
a division between those who bought and those who did not. The
"brought" people have containers that range from a basic brown bag to
ice coolers that freeze everything solid in five minutes flat.

About the Book
If you listen closely in the school lunchroom, you will hear many stories just like these! After 7 years of telling his tales to thousands of children and adults, Jim Flanagan has put several in a book. Many of the stories came from a journal he kept as a principal,
teacher, counselor and coach. The original tales are about kids of all ages dealing with the adventures of life. The book contains many character education stories that can be used for classroom discussion.
The tales are a combination of humorous and thoughtful moments. The stories are never preachy. The reader will take away from the story what they want with a smile on their face. Many children have comment that the stories really make you think.
Jim says, " you may not remember of the stories but you will remember how the stories made you feel.
Students of all ages easily relate to the stories, characters and plots. The stories are from real life and kids will automatically think the tale happened in their school or neighborhood or in their own luchroom.
