former Marine, Joe Myers practiced law in Atlanta for 32 years as a commercial real estate attorney
with Alston & Bird, one of the largest law firms in the southeast. Specializing in historic preservation and
urban development law, Mr. Myers represented the Fox Theatre for twenty-six
years, and also served, until his retirement in 2001, as vice president,
trustee and executive committee member of its owner, Atlanta Landmarks,
Inc. A former director of the Atlanta Preservation Center, Mr. Myers also represented tax exempt, non-profit
corporations which were the main development arms in rebuilding Atlanta’s inner city.
