About the Book

The Black Mercedes is not just another detective solving a whodunit, although it begins with and revolves around the mysterious crash of a Mercedes after midnight on California’s winding Highway One.

Detective “Tully” Tulverson chases the speeding Mercedes, witnessing its crash through the barrier, bouncing over the cliff, end over end, to a fiery crash on the rocks below.  His immediate call for help reveals that the accident has already been reported...ten minutes ago.  It’s definitely no accident...possibly a suicide, most likely murder.

The deceased, a partner in a prestigious law firm in San Francisco, had been returning from his weekly commute to visit his wife, a psychiatrist with a thriving practice in Los Angeles.  Lydia cares more about his assets than what to do with his remains.  His partners care more about the lost Mercedes, and his former secretary knows more about the deceased than anyone else, including his dual identity and a semi-retarded son.

Tully’s investigation involves him with each of these characters, some more intimately than he’d like.  In solving the murder, he’s not only learned about the life of the deceased, but even more about himself.  His life is changed forever.

About the Author

Julie Abreau has enjoyed writing all her life, but only after joining the Writers Roundtable in her home town of Alhambra, California did she realize her penchant for novel writing...mostly involving lawyers and courtroom scenes.

As a legal secretary, she had the good fortune to work with one of the best trial lawyers in Los Angeles, eloquent in the courtroom, as well as writing convincing pleadings and briefs.

A skilled watercolor artist, she became involved with San Gabriel Fine Arts Association, writing their monthly newsletter for seventeen years.

The Black Mercedes is her first published novel, but certainly not her last.  Three others are ready for final editing, plus “scads of others are in the works.”
