About the Author

Marcia J. Bowman is owner of a business solutions company and serves as a Blue and Gold Officer for the United States Naval Academy.   She has a B.A. in Applied Behavior Sciences and has completed George Washington Extension Program Management Institute Masters Certificate courses. Marcia has been a news reporter for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Austin American-Statesman, Columbia Flier and Howard County Times. She is author of a play, “The Morilogue of William W. Wannabe,”, poetry and children‘s literature, “Chaka Learns the Rules.” She has one daughter, Leslie, a first grade teacher and a son, Matthew, a Midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy. This first novel, “The Last Miserable Day,” begins a series about Sera‘s triumphs and obstacles as a daughter, wife, mother and professional. Sera’s Stand is planned for publication by the Spring of 2004.
THE ORIGINAL COVER ART, “Winter” is a watercolor painting is provided by permission of David C. Ruffin, Jr., the author’s father. Mr. Ruffin began watercolor paintings as a hobby at age 86 two years before his untimely death in December of 2003. Because of his wisdom and charisma, Mr. Ruffin was fondly called “Dad” by a multitude of young and old adults across the country.
