The sunlight  never
Touches our faces
To age or to burn,
For we are
Nocturnal creatures.
We sleep by day
And play by night.
We come to life when
The sun goes down.

There’ll be no
6 a.m. rising
For us,
Only resting,
For we are
Nocturnal creatures.

We are called out
Into the darkness
For life’s gala affairs.
We are at our colorful best;
We vibrate radiance after dark.

Set a day appointment
For us and we will mourn
The sacrifice, setting out
The coffee pots,
For we are creatures
Of the night.

Yes, you sun worshippers!
Enjoy your 7 a.m.
Tennis games and your
Early morning swims.
Ride those Life Cycles
At 6 a.m. for those 8 a.m.
Clock ins but--
Nocturnal creatures
You are not.

While you sleep in peace
The city still survives.
For it is not only
The freaks that come
Out at night, but we
Nocturnal creatures:
Providers of the needs
At midnight, toilers
Until dawn.

Give us a call,
But only after noon.
Pay us a visit,
But only when the
Sun goes down.
For we are
Nocturnal creatures-
By choice and
By reason of night visions.
