About the Book

Millionaire, Richard Stewart, so angered by the abuse given his five-year-old child, he files for custody. However the child is so traumatized by the abuse she has received, she cannot pass the tests to enter kindergarten.

In an effort to restore her confidence, teach her to trust adults, and begin to learn, he kidnaps a teacher and isolates them in the rugged mountains of Idaho for a year. He promises the teacher great compensation for her year of exile if she can teach Amy all she needs to know to enter first grade, but threatens dire results if she fails.

About the Author

June Worthington was born on a farm, in a small house without electricity, north of Richfield, Idaho. She attended a one-room country school where she walked, skied, or rode horseback with her brothers and sisters for eight years before attending Richfield High School. After graduation she attended Albion Normal School, then started teaching. After several years in different schools, she met and married Ken Worthington while teaching in Cambridge, Idaho. They moved to Oregon where they taught in one- and two-room schools four years before returning to the Worthington family farm near Picabo, Idaho.

June started the Special Education program in Blaine County and taught there twenty-three years. During those years, she attended summer school to earn a masters degree in Special Education from Idaho State University.

She is now retired and spends her time with her grandchildren and with many arts and crafts she enjoys.
