One, Only

Bill Dow sketches the eighty- year attempt ( 1871-1951) by his home town to establish itself as the dominate civic entity in Harlan County, Nebraska. Its effort has an unusual outcome, but it still claims to be "The only Republican City in the world."

The writer attended the University of Nebraska pre Pearl Harbor. After World War II, he graduated from the University of Southern California School of Journalism. He was a reporter on the Arcadia Weekly, California, The Las Vegas, Nevada, Review Journal (Sports Editor) and The Newark New Jersey Star Ledger, plus more than twenty years in the public relation business in Los Angeles, California. Bill Dow now lives in Tucson, Arizona.
