About the Book

This book should be a great help to all those who have the responsibility of producing an endless supply of events, information and guidance for senior citizens, regardless of their physical abilities and advanced ages.

The book proposes activities which might be held throughout each month and provides a calendar and forms which will assist any Director to plan a thoroughly organized schedule. Also included are suggested materials which might be presented to educate, inform and entertain clients, ... leading them towards happier, healthier, more active lives.

The material in this book was chosen only after each new idea was used at the Annie Johnson Center and was determined to be "a winner." Fresh concepts which did not receive a "thumbs up" from those who participated were promptly entered in the "Forget About It". file, never to be used again.

The objective for all of us at the Annie Johnson Center is to produce an environment that is truly family, ...where mutual respect abounds, ... where mutual consideration is habitual, ...where each strives to love and do what is necessary to be loved.

We hope you, too, will find the means to achieve this goal within the pages of this creative effort.

About the Author

After owning 13 corporations, writing 16 books, mostly about some aspect of U.S. education, and holding numerous jobs as diversified as cab driver, standup comic and college president, Diggs said no to retirement and accepted a job with Citrus County, Florida, as the Site Director of the Annie Johnson Senior Center.

Despite being 70 with emphysema, he looks forward each week day to going to work. It is there that he puts his ingenuity to work, creating events and supplying education that will lead to healthier, happier lives.

The activities included in the Senior Activities Planning Guide are those which have been well received by his "extended family" who come each day for a warm meal and their daily supply of laughter and wisdom.
