Maggie's story -Part 1
1835, is that the year or is that what the man paid for us? I hold Julie's hand as she stands on the auction block along side me. I was a dark skinned, skinny little girl about five years old named Maggie. My big brown eyes showed fright but I was determined that I would not act scared. After all, I needed to be brave. I stuck my chin out and held up my little head and looked directly into the many faces looking up at me.
My attention fell on a large burly man wearing a brown hat. He seemed to be motioning for me and Julie to join him As we stepped down off the platform I heard him say to his three companions 'Come on, get those gals ready to go. "Where?" I asked Julie. "Where are we going?" Julie just looks sad and holds my hand tighter. "We've been bought by that man over there, and we gotta get ready to go," she explains. "Lord only knows where to, but you remember don't tell nary a soul that I am not your momma gal, or they will sell you again with out me." I think, Julie is right, I just better hold her hand and go along without a fight. I heard the people auction man say that I am only five this year and I could get lost. I pick up my little bundle which contains my only doll that Fanny had made for me. I also have in my bundle a pretty rock that glitters in the sun. These are the only possessions that I had acquired in my short little life.
I watch as a big man walks toward Julie holding a big ugly chain. The man smiles at Julie and me as he places it around her ankle and says," This won't be so bad if you don't pull against it. Don't need one on the little one," he says. "She won't run." Why does he think I won't run, I wonder. He don't know nothin about me. Aint no one know nothin about me but the Lord in the sky. I knows all about the Lord in the sky because Fanny had told me daily about him.
Fanny was the lady that had taken care of me my whole life. It was from this woman's breast that I had received my nourishment.
I look at Julie and notice that she tries to smile even though she is as frightened as I am. I feel so bad for her as she is chained to the other people. These other dear people had been bought as we had been. I grab for Julie's hand as the line of people start walking behind a big wagon. Some of the fat women get to ride in the wagons as well as do some of the children. The man in the brown hat offers to help me into the wagon. I hold up my head and say, "No thank you, I will walk." He responds by shouting, "Hey, we got us a little lady here; maybe she will do good in the big house."
As I walk beside Julie I find myself wishing that I had gotten on the wagon with the other children because by now my feet had started to bleed. I had not been given shoes, as Julie had, and my tender little feet hurt. I endure my discomfort quietly because no one will see that I am not lady enough to "do good in the big house", whatever that means. As we walk forever it seems, I feel so tired and I think my feet will never be the same again. As the sun starts to go over the hill we come to a stop under some big shade trees. I sit down with Julie and the others on the green cool grass. "Man, look at your feet gal." Julie exclaims, as she holds my little brown, dusty, sore foot up so she can examine it more closely. "It's all right I am O.K..," I tell her as I squirm to get away from her grasp. I am squirming not only to get away from Julie but I have an urgent need. "Julie I have to pee right now, can you walk with me over behind that tree?" Julie tells me to go by myself because she is still chained to the others and can't go with me. "Where do you pee?” I asked. Julie answered, "Well, I have to pee where I am at and then I kinda move over so as I don't sit in it." "Well, I'll just pee where I am at too." As I pee where I'm
at I feel the grass beneath my sore feet become wet and my own urine soothes my tired, little, aching feet. I move over to sit down by my new momma, Julie. The man in the brown hat brings us our evening meal. It was only dried bread and some water but I was hungry and ate it without complaining. The fat women get something that looked like dried meat with their bread. I asked Julie, "Why do they get more to eat than we do? Is it because they are fat and they can eat more?" Julie smiled as she answered, "No, it because they are going to have babies and they need more to eat than we do." "Well," I said," If I ever get hungry I'll just have a baby." This made Julie laugh and I noticed how her big brown eyes took on a little sparkle and her laughter sounded like the cry of a small child.

the people you love, sometimes family, you just know that you will miss them and

The title, When the mourning Dove cries is derived
from a secret signal that the slaves used when another escaped from the
plantation. The book is based as a true story of reincarnation. I have
researched the history of the Belle Mead plantation and many people’s names
that lived during this period have repeated in my lifetime. I have been a
mystic since birth and have taught and ministered since I was 15 years old.
This book details my past life as a slave and then as an unusual life as a
mystic. I am the second child of six children all born with a gift. It speaks
of haunted houses that I ,as Madgelyn was reared in and of learning to tune
into oneself to communicate with guides. As I matured spiritually my past life
vision cleared and I was able to see into my own past. The book teaches that
each person has a gift and through each lifetime must come tests of faith. It
is a story of characters that have repeated lessons and events carried over
from a previous life.
The first part of the book is my life as Maggie in
1800’s It tells of a life of struggle and survival as a slave through the civil
war. Maggie is a Mystic visionary. Her mistress uses her as her “very own
medium” at the height of spiritualism. Maggie can be likened to a Scarlett
O’hara.Through her efforts she stars a church as well as a school and benefits
many by offering spiritual insights into their lives as well as her own.
The middle of the book is the experiences of the
after life. This part of the book takes over where the best seller Embraced by
the light left off. It is written to teach about the experiences one encounters
while in the mansion world schools. It explains the roles of the guides and the
reasoning behind the life just lived.
The third part starts with the plight of Julia. This
is a true story as well as true affairs of the other characters. Julia was my
mother in this life time. She and I shared a life as Maggie and Julie in the
1800’s.
My son in law, Robert, in this life was shot at Fort
Bragg by a drive by shooter. As his life in the 1800’s as Matt he was a member
of the Klan and was involved in the shooting of another. This is explained in
detail in the book. This is why when he woke from his life saving surgery his
first statement was, “Wow, I must have owed that man something from a past
life.” This statement of forgiveness helped him to heal.
About the Author
Madgelyn was born with the gift of prophecy. She is
an ordained minister and certified medium missionary. She has six years of
college with a major in psychology. For three years Madgelyn had a metaphysical
advise column in Indiana and a raido talk show in Ohio. She has made several
guest appearances on television in the Dayton Ohio area. Madgelyn has worked
with local universities and their religious departments, visiting prisons and
lecturing to students about their concerns of the expanding beleif system on
the planet. She and her husband Dale reside in Springfield Ohio and is
presently working on another book.
