Always Yearned
I've always yearned for You,
even when a little child;
I seem to have been born
with this ache for Union.
. . .
Do You remember when, a seeking teenager, alone,
I went into the woods, among a sanctuary of pines,
a longing face prostrated to the bare ground,
ardently seeking to be lost in Your Presence?
. . .
These prayer beads,
they cannot bring me Peace
nor give me prayer
from the Heart.
The Word of Life, so near,
came not through words
of a sacred book,
but preceded all script.
Beliefs, books, Scriptures, too,
rituals, sanctuaries, creeds, and much more
are conditioned mirrors, impure,
caused in time like I.
. . .
I sit beside this gentle and inward brook,
flowing clean from human hand,
and behold reflected in a thousand streams
your Unadorned Face through mine.
I have only, always, from all time and before,
longed to know You, naked,
unclothed of all this surrounding beauty
and what I have been taught is true.
. . .
Breathe your Breeze, now,
let that Primordial Wind blow
and disrobe me naked, too,
from all that separates from the unrobed Presence, You.
Amen!
Become the Beauty
Smell the Supernal Rose,
let God's heart open
inside you.
Discover your divinity
drawn to the Effulgence within,
inhale the aromatic bliss.
"This scent of Love Eternal
will reawaken the world
to the Luminosity everywhere."
Leave aside all complaint,
a distraction from Joy,
and enter the smiling Garden.
Turn to the Sun there
and slowly become the Beauty
you seek among things.

An Ache for
Union is
about our longing for and oneness with Divine Love. The message of the book is optimistic, mystical, inclusive, and
inspirational. It presents a vision of
unity among spiritual traditions rarely offered by anyone in a particular faith
tradition–the author is a Protestant Christian. Not only will the poems inspire
you in many alluring words and images, you will find the extensive notes
informative. They offer quotations from
the last two millennia, thematic parallels among spiritual paths East and West,
and a glowing respect for all Creation as manifesting the Lover, Who is Love.

About the Author
The author received a
M.Div., MFT, and Ph.D. He has been in
the clergy twenty-seven years and serves in the United Methodist Church. He founded OneLife Ministries to share spiritual teachings and training with
persons of varied spiritual paths for the advancement of World Peace and
healing of the earth. He served as a
professor, teaching religion and psychology, for nine years. In 1996 he was
chosen to Who's Who Among America's Teachers.
He trains persons, through teaching and writing, in Contemplative Prayer. He has written poetry for twenty-two
years. His poetry is designed to
inspire living of the spiritual ideals of the world faiths. He lives with his beloved dogs, Bandit Ty
and St. Francis.
