The Sabastian Cane Chronicles Book II

There was an edge to her voice. Cane knew he had his ass in a bind. If only he had told the truth when they returned. No, he had to take all the credit. His ego made him accept the glory. Now he had to pay for his ego. "Can we do this secretly? I mean, if no one knew I was working with Tu'ul, and no one knew I was, ah...your sex slave, then maybe it would all work out."

K'ak-Sih thought for a moment. "Perhaps that could be arranged. I like secrets. It allows both of us to do as we wish and still have each other. I know you are promised to Sak-Nik’ for the Mayo Ritual. You shall take her virginity. You already have mine," she smiled at him.

"You mean that was your first time?" Cane asked, surprised.

"Yes, of course, Silly. There have been no others." she said, in her girlish voice. Then she added, "You understand that here, the Mayan men may have more than one wife. Few accept the responsibility, but you shall. Sak-Nik’ will be your first wife, and I shall be your second." K'ak-Sih was very serious when she said this, and Cane knew it.

"How am I going to explain that?" He looked a little worried.

"No need, all in good time, everything will unfold. Consider this, you will be the son-in-law of the two most powerful shaman of this tribe."

Canes' head was swimming. The prospect of the two most beautiful and most powerful young women of this tribe wanted to be married to him at the same time. Well right now, only one of them knew it, but Sak-Nik’ owed him her life, or so she thought. She could not say no. This is too good to be true.

"What do we do next?" he asked, before his mind could conjure up any more images of the three of them. "I can read what is in your mind. There will be much time for us to explore all that will present itself to us. I will teach your little Sak-Nik’ many things to please you and… me. However, for right now, we should go thank my father for his wonderful magic."

Tu'ul Ajmenloo stood by his altar, inside the house, when the two entered. Copal was burning in a small shell on the altar. The effigy of two deities coupling, on a piece of jade, lay within the smoke. He held a large uncut diamond in his hand over the two deities. "Sastun, sastun, open my eyes that I might see, open my heart that I might feel, bring visions in my sleep which will guide me during the waking hours." He pricked his finger with a stingray spine and allowed the blood to flow over the diamond. "The sustenance of the cycle of life returns to the gods. I give of my life water, that which you have given me, in return for the sustenance which you continue to serve on my person." He placed the sastun down upon the coupling deities. "So be it." he said, and turned to Cane and K'ak-Sih. "Ah. Bix Ba ch' ok." Tu'ul said.

Cane half bowed. "Bix Ajmenloo, if you don't mind, Sir, I prefer Cane to First Born," Cane politely replied. "And I prefer Tu'ul to Ajmenloo. Everyone calls me Shaman, Ajmenloo is so formal. I shall call you Cane when we are alone, and you shall call me Tu'ul. My English is very good no? I knew you were here, so I did my sastun ritual in English so you would understand gooder." Tu'ul said smiling.

"I hope you won't think me rude, Sir, but it is not gooder, it is better." Cane said carefully.

"Ah, it is well said. Better. No gooder. See? We learn from each persons," he responded.

Cane felt he better leave that correction alone.

"K'ak-Sih, remove your covering. And, Cane you do the same." Tu'ul said, turning and going to his altar. K'ak-Sih dropped her sarong to the floor and walked to where her father stood. Cane was momentarily unsure of himself, then he too dropped his wrap to the floor and came to stand beside Tu'ul and K'ak-Sih. "Here, we are, as we are born. We have nothing to hide from the deities. It is as they brought us into this world and so we stand before them." Tu'ul removed his wrap and tossed it to the side. "We have nothing to hide from the Great Ones. You and K'ak-Sih have joined in the Great Rite, when you do so, you must save your essence, it must be presented as sustenance for the Deities, with this, you must also put your life water, how you say? Ah, blood, both of you."
