About the Book

This is the story of a curious and intelligent green iguana named Grover, who had many exciting experiences during his ten years with the Greens, which he tells us about in the first part of the book. Grover took part in many shows of the Bay Area Amphibian and Reptile Society and visited schools to teach kids about iguanas. Note his reactions to an iguana friend!

There are lots of interesting pictures of Grover in the midst of many different activities.

The second part is about his wonderful life with his new family after he sends "Mom" to emergency twice!

The last part tells about Winnie Green's first iguana, Francine, adopted from Penny Patterson of the Gorilla Foundation. She was a sweetheart who went a lot of places besides being in BAARS shows.

About the Author

Winnie Green, a native Californian, is a great lover of animals, especially cats, small monkeys and lizards. She adopted her first iguana in 1988. She first fell in love with them at Simon Bolivar Park in Guayaquil, Ecuador, where they slept in the trees and sunned themselves on the ground or hedges during the days. People always gathered around watching them.

Winnie's lifetime occupation was teaching: elementary, high school, home teaching, and folk dancing. She has an M.A. in French and a B.A. in history. She is fluent in Spanish and knows quite a bit of Italian and German. She has traveled in fifty-seven countries, in all the states, all of Canada's provinces, and most of Mexico. She keeps in touch with friends all over the world.

Her hobby is international folk dancing, including teaching and exhibiting. She loves reading, writing, and puzzles. She has done a lot of volunteer work.
