GOSIP
Acronym for Government Open Systems Interconnection Profile, a government standards agency.It provides communication and interoperation between systems users within government agencies and departments. See OSI.

GPA
Acronym for Grade Point Average, a scholastic scoring measurement usually based on a 4-point system.

GPM
Acronym for Graduated-Payment Mortgage, a mortgage loan with a monthly payment initially lower than a conventional (level-payment) loan but with payments that increase over the length of the loan.
GPO

GPS
Acronym for Global Positioning System, a technique to accurately locate the position of any objects dynamically by using satellite(s). See ELT, FAR, VFR, NOAA, NTSB.

Acronym for General Purpose-Interface Bus (IEEE 488 1975).
GRAPHICS
A symbol, character or drawing created by a collection of dots on a screen, printer or other peripheral.

An add-in video circuit board used for sending graphics characters and pictures to a monochrome or color monitor.
GRAY SCALES
Refers to color pictures that can be broken down into gray tones that are produced by varying the density of black pixels for printing; the greater the density of black pixels, the darker the picture appears.See HALFTONE.

GREEKING
A technique to speedup a display of a document by representing text with unintelligible and unreadable type or characters.

Acronym for Government Securities Clearing Corporation, a registered clearing corporation that facilitates orderly settlement in the U.S. government securities markets, tracks repossessed trades settled through its system by product type..
GT
Acronym for Greater Than.
GTC
Acronym for Good-Till-Canceled orders. These are stop limit orders that stay in place until they execute, are canceled or expire.
GUI
Acronym for Graphical User Interface, which includes features such as pull-down or drop-down menus, icons, mouse pointing control capabilities, plus many numerous "windowing" user interfaces.Pronounced "gooie".

About the Author
He has both an Electrical Engineering and Mathematics degrees with a minor in Computer Science. He gained broad and extensive experiences while working as a Circuit/Systems Designer and later as a Senior Technical Writer while working for several well-known Silicon Valley Computer companies since the mid 60's until the mid 2001. In addition, he operated the fourth (in California) Computer Store called MicroByte Computer Systems in 1975 until 1982 selling small business systems to the medical/dental profession, companies using job- costing/estimating, a large Truck Specialty, and a Tire company among others.
