About the Book

A science fiction epic in the tradition of H.G. Wells' Things to Come, Huxley's Brave New World and Orwell's 1984, Hide Me In The Grave adds predictions of the effect of biological and cybernetic discoveries on our future. The description of what the world might be like in 150 years and how it gets there is developed in the context of the actions of individuals of the times and the effects on them of global upheavals, such as the East-West War of 2055 and the domination of most of the world by the Eastern Empire for 37 years.

The history of the world into the future is presented in the Jacobson Chronicles which are kept by the caretakers of George Jacobson, their ancestor, who is in a hibernate state for 100 years until he is awakened into a world where immortality has become a technical reality. Alternating with the progress of history described in the Chronicles is the activity in 2151 of reviving George and introducing him to the 22nd century which is done by his last caretaker, Steven Jacobson, and Steven's legal companion, Angela Rodriguez. Although the world of Steven Jacobson seems to have solved all its problems, even a resolution of the conflict between faith and reason, there is a price to pay and the future still contains unknowns.

About the Author

William Rothwell lives in the Sierra foothills of central California and is married to a professional artist. He has worked as a teacher, research scientist, and most recently as a consultant in physical science. Author of The Vocabulary of Physics and many scientific publications, he turned to fiction with novels of suspense and science fiction.

Writing stories as a vocation first tempted Rothwell when he resigned from the U.S. Navy and returned to school to prepare for an alternative career, but he chose to study physics to improve his and contribute to our understanding of the natural world around us. Now he is taking time to give substance and form to the plots of stories that have accumulated in the writer's part of his brain.
